چکیده
Introduction. Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is widely cultivated around the world and in Costa Rica nearly 8200 hectares are dedicated to production of this crop. More than 400 species phytophagous insects mites have been reported on mango worldwide. Among them 73 armored scale (Hemiptera: Diaspididae), which Aulacaspis tubercularis Newstead one most serious pests mangos many parts world. Objective. In present work, we report for first time occurrence white scale, A. tubercularis. Materials methods. tree samples were collected San Rafael, a town located central canton Alajuela province Greater Metropolitan Area Rica. Insects found leaves examined under stereomicroscope, counted classified according condition their wax covers, provided evidence activity by natural enemies. Slide mounts adult females prepared light microscope. Results. The was identified as frequency trees sampled 90%, where 12% showed predation 2.5% parasitization. Conclusion. recorded Further investigations population dynamics enemies needed provide useful information order implement adequate control strategies.

Does cycad aulacaspis scale (Aulacaspis yasumatsui, Hemiptera: Diaspididae) play a direct role in causing soil phytotoxicity?
Cycad aulacaspis scale (CAS, Aulacaspis yasumatsui, Hemiptera: Diaspididae) was accidentally introduced to Guam in 2003, and has caused acute mortality of the dominant, endemic forest tree Cycas micronesica. A phytotoxic legacy in the soils beneath cycad trees killed by CAS over a period of about three years has been demonstrated. The origin of the toxicity may be large quantities of CAS-encrus...
متن کاملReproductive Biology of Mango (Mangifera indica) in a Mediterranean Climate
The importance of mango growing contrasts with the paucity of information on its reproductive biology. In this work, the reproductive biology of mango was studied in the subtropical conditions of the Southern Spanish Mediterranean coast, using the cultivars `Osteen ́, `Kensington ́, `Kent ́ and `Keitt ́. In order to establish the appropriate developmental coordinates during the reproductive phase, ...
متن کاملMolecular identification of Mango, Mangifera indica L.var. totupura
UNLABELLED Mango (>Mangifera indica) belonging to Anacardiaceae family is a fruit that grows in tropical regions. It is considered as the King of fruits. The present work was taken up to identify a tool in identifying the mango species at the molecular level. The chloroplast trnL-F region was amplified from extracted total genomic DNA using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sequenced. Seq...
متن کاملAnticarcinogenic effects of polyphenolics from mango (Mangifera indica) varieties.
Many polyphenolics contained in mango have shown anticancer activity. The objective of this study was to compare the anticancer properties of polyphenolic extracts from several mango varieties (Francis, Kent, Ataulfo, Tommy Atkins, and Haden) in cancer cell lines, including Molt-4 leukemia, A-549 lung, MDA-MB-231 breast, LnCap prostate, and SW-480 colon cancer cells and the noncancer colon cell...
متن کاملMango (Mangifera indica L.) Lyophilization Using Vacuum-Induced Freezing
Abstract—Lyophilization, also called freeze-drying, is an important dehydration technique mainly used for pharmaceuticals. Food industry also uses lyophilization when it is important to retain most of the nutritional quality, taste, shape and size of dried products and to extend their shelf life. Vacuum-Induced during freezing cycle (VI) has been used in order to control ice nucleation and, con...
